Smarter, Faster, Safer: Why Stainless Ratchet Ties Are Replacing Strapping on Site
When it comes to securing cables, antennas, or electrical components in tough conditions, speed and safety matter. That’s why more professionals are switching from stainless strapping to Smartmark Stainless Ratchet Ties.
Originally inspired by a trip to Japan during the 2019 Rugby World Cup, the Wiremarkers™ Australia team saw ratchet-style ties being used across construction and telecommunications infrastructure — with no tools, no fuss, and maximum hold. The team brought the idea home, and after rigorous redesign and testing, developed a version tough enough for Australian worksites.
Built from reinforced 304 stainless steel, these ratchet ties are fast, tool-free, and safe. With bevelled edges and a secure ratchet clip, injuries are minimised. They're rated to 50kVA and have passed SCCR testing under Clause 9.5 IEC 61914 (50kA) — making them suitable for high-risk electrical and telco environments.
Smartmark Stainless Ratchet Ties support over 400kg of tension and help reduce install time by up to 30%, saving both time and labour costs. They're currently being used across telco, mining, and electrical construction projects around the country.
These ratchet ties are available in 500mm or 800mm lengths, in widths from 10mm to 19mm, and thicknesses from 0.2mm to 0.4mm. They come in plain silver or epoxy-coated colour options, with other lengths available by request. 316-grade stainless versions are also in stock (contact us for details).
